I have moved many, many times in my life. It was always easier in/out of a dorm room--pretty limited space means pretty limited packing--but I've cleaned out the entire condo before at least once, and the equivalent junk again from a Pittsburgh apartment some years later... So why does this particular move feel like so much more of a big deal?

Maybe it's because it's occurring right before finals week? Or because there's a whole series of little things to take care of that I hadn't worried about before, as it's about moving into a house we own (yay!) instead of yet another apartment where someone else handles most of the high-level stuff.

...on the other hand, now that I remember the three days in Pittsburgh in February of huddling in a sleeping bag on the apartment floor (no furniture yet!) with the cats until the gas company got around to sending someone to turn the gas on, this may be the blurry filter of nostalgia speaking. Maybe it's always this damn stressful, and I'm just noticing more this time because it comes on top of the stressful Buying A House part of things.

Oh well. Pack all the things. Study all the things. Move all the things. Eventually, we'll be in the new place, the semester will be over, and I can start weeping softly over the giant stacks of boxes in the new place, as is traditional.
