Okay. So I haven't been getting any real translation done this break. Or any writing at all. Barely keeping up with maintenance chores. Haven't really gone anywhere exciting, or done anything exciting; I haven't even been to the movies yet. Haven't finished any video games, and I'm just rereading books, not reading new ones...
But this morning while I was getting breakfast together for myself in the kitchen, Pixel went outside through the pet door by herself. And then again later, while I was in the office and not even by the kitchen door. All by herself! Without me needing to follow her and reassure her that the door wouldn't be closed on her! (Which it will, sometimes. Occasionally I do need the dog out of the house for a few. It's a good safe yard.) And she'll sometimes wait several seconds, doing her own thing, before following me to another room. Or even wait a minute to see if I come back on my own.
I think this is really going to work out.
