This weekend was ArmadilloCon, which I haven't been to in years. I vaguely recall that last year I meant to go, but on the actual weekend of went "eh" at and skipped. In retrospect, that was a mistake, because this weekend's con was good. On the small side, but in a friendly, comfortable way. Good location, good panels, good dealer's room, good con suite (with real food!), and a whole lot of Neat People.

I am rapidly discovering that my enjoyment of a con is tightly connected to how many people I know and like are also attending. If they're all on panels, better yet! And if they're doing readings, even better. (Though I did miss the reading of one friend on account of it being at 10pm and me being pretty damn tired by that point.) So that was pretty much a win all around.

On Sunday, I got to run off and do rock climbing with friends (who I'd reference by username if I could remember how to make DW link to LJ names properly), and while I did do some rather impressive series of flailing wild falls from the same two walls, I also managed to scramble up one I remembered as Challenging with relative ease. So I'm going to call that progress. I'm getting better with my hands and my hips, at least for my level of rocks, which means it's time to start paying attention to my feet instead of using them in a "Oh boy! I hit the right hold with my shoe! Close enough!" sort of way.

And then Sunday evening, around the conclusion of the second round of Talisman (which does not, alas, quite hold up to my memories of it--I think either I needed to be more drunk, or I should just bring Wrath of Ashardalon next year instead), there was a sudden confluence of authors talking about Art. Totally capital-letter-A version of it, too. Which was informative and fascinating, and let me stammer for five minutes while trying to recommend Terry Pratchett's Nation, which I still think is the best presentation of a philosophical question I've ever seen in a work of fiction.

All of this meant I got absolutely no homework done over the weekend, and barely avoided shaming myself in classes Monday. And now, on Tuesday, I'm still trying to finish two sets of Latin assignments so that I can move on to doing the same with the Greek. And the condo needs cleaning, and there are bills to pay, and I need to figure out when I can next hit the gym without broiling in constantly-over-100 weather, and... I want to write, dammit.

But all things in time.
