Today I virtuously went to the blood center to donate blood before 4th St, and discovered that once again my blood percentage of...something...that they determine with a finger stick was too low for donation. So I was sent home with a sore finger, an instruction to try eating chili before my next attempt, and no free juice or cookies. Bah!

In tenuously* related news, I am looking forward to Fourth Street Fantasy like you would not believe. I have carefully restrained myself from packing my suitcase two days early, on the principle that it's a good way to completely forget what I packed and end up leaving two things behind while double-packing something else. But...convention! Very exciting convention! Which I will be going to this weekend!

I'm also nervous as all hell. I probably shouldn't be--I know people who'll be there, it sounds like loads of fun--but serious conventions are...intimidating. I have a lousy memory, and have spent many a panel feeling woeful and stupid because everyone else is rapidly discussing Known Canon that I either didn't read, didn't like, or don't remember very well. It's nice to feel belongy. It's hard when trying to do so in a subculture that loves its memory of stuff.

Anyway. I expect I'll have a marvelous time.

* Is it just me, or does -uou- make a really weird grouping of vowels? Seriously, English, we're only pronouncing that as a syllable with a consonantly Y-style bit at the front anyway. Maybe two syllables, tops. Funky letter collection.
