I'm trying to post here more often, because I still like the comments system here much better than on Tumblr*, and it's not as reply-now-or-never as Twitter ends up being. But, hey, for the record, here is the strangest conversation I have ever had on Twitter, courtesy of today, in four tweets copied here verbatim:
Me: "Oh, good. The classics department is having their traditional Mithras party soon."
Some Stranger I Have Never Interacted With Before: "@fadeaccompli Perhaps they might like to produce any ancient source linking Mithras to 25 Dec."
Me: "@roger_pearse Why? It's not like we're having the party then."
SSIHNIWB: "@fadeaccompli #disingenuous #blocked"
I swear to god, that is the entirety of it. And I still have no idea what controversy this man thinks I was being disingenuous about, as a brief glance at his feed just shows me a lot of retweeting of other people and links, none of which particularly clarify. But look at me! Big enough on the internet to accidentally have very confusing fights with complete strangers, in which I didn't even know I was fighting!
I feel like I've hit some sort of milestone, here.
