The current Hugo mess, all my ranting of earlier posts aside, has the side effect of not giving me a useful list of what sorts of things came out last year that people enjoyed reading. So out of outright curiosity, I'm replicating here a poll I'm running on Twitter: what books would you have* nominated for this set of Hugos? Just the novel category, in this case: 1-5 books in the SF&F genre umbrella, as you see it, that came out in 2014 and that you think were awesome and ought to be recognized as such.
List them in the comments (LJ and DW are both fine), and I'll tally up the results along with the responses I'm getting on Twitter. This will get me a completely biased but interesting sample of What People Liked Last Year, along with some great book recommendations, which I will post about here for the sort of people who are interested in this sort of thing.
And, you know. It'll also provide a fun example of how varied tastes are. It took all of three responses on Twitter before I had a list of ten different books.

* "did" is also applicable, if you nominated books for the Hugos. But you can also have changed your mind since you sent your nomination in. Either way!
