The concept and practical effects thereof, I mean. Though the game's pretty good too.
The fans and dehumidifiers all left today. We have, along with dry walls, the following:
1) working AC (even if it's old and will need replacement soon)
2) lights! and outlets that work without tripping breakers! in every room!
3) COFFEE
4) functional internet
5) noticeably less terrified pets
6) most furniture back in its place
7) functional cooking devices
And so after more than a week of sleeping on the couch in 90F heat with the terrified dog clinging to me while endless fans roared in the darkness, eating mostly cereal and salads and fleeing to the coffee shop to recharge my phone and grab a few hours of internet, I can now sit on the couch with reasonably happy pets, watching the god damn PS3 do yet another system update before it lets me watch some stupid reality TV through Hulu.
And I have a cup of coffee right in front of me. And dinner was cooked. Here! On premises! There was bacon involved!
Despite the combined disasters of the last two weeks (vet, mechanic, disaster people) coming to a rather wince-worthy price-tag, we are still fine. I am comfortable and happy right now, and not thinking about, let's say, the need to replace all the removed baseboards in the house so that the bottom four inches of each wall aren't gaping holes and tattered paint. The dog is no longer staring at everything forever with infinite terror in his eyes.
I hope the cats forgive us soon and go back to peeing in the catboxes.
