Today at the climbing gym, two adorable small children decided to watch me work on a V1. They offered encouragement, a bag of chalk, and their own consolatory "I couldn't do that one either!" When I climbed a nearby V0, they assured me that I was very good at climbing.
Their mother came by, and told them to stop bothering me. "We're not bothering her," one of them explained. "We're watching her climb!"
...and, really, they weren't. They were adorable. And thanks to their encouragement, I fell off the same two holds of that route about nine times in a row! Which didn't exactly get me any further up, but is probably good for me in a moral sense or something. And I did manage to send a different V1 for the first time--a really horrible overhang one with a nice dolphin grip--leaving just Mr. Shallow Holds, Ms. Final Terrifying Hold, and Miss What The Fuck Triangle as the V1 routes set right now that I can't climb.
So there's that.
Then I went off to see Gosford Park with a friend at the Alamo Drafthouse, with three courses of tea and a plate of truly delicious pastries. I am officially declaring this the most awesome thing that the Drafthouse does, out of an awful lot of awesome things. And while I'm not sure if I'm making it to Emma (which is in just two weeks), I am totally going to get to the showing they're doing of the 2011 Jane Eyre in August. I mean...tea and pastries! What's not to love?
