So, I'm doing pretty well this morning.

Yesterday I got the loveliest rejection letter ever. An explanation for why it'd taken so long to arrive, a detailed explanation of exactly what the editor liked about my story and why she decided not to accept--and by detailed, I do mean a specific set of questions about gaping setting holes (...oops) that made perfect sense for why the story didn't stand up to repeated scrutiny. And asking me to submit more stuff to them in the future.

Reader, my heart grew three sizes that day.

Anyway. I've reviewed my Greek vocab for today's quiz. I'm eyeing my stack of books for my Latin research project, and trying to work out how to organize that. I've fiddled with my current writing project to work out some organizational kinks (the chapter breaks have to be in the right place, okay?), and I'll probably be tossing some more words on there shortly, after I send chapters out to people. (Beta readers? Fans? More the latter, I guess; I'm more looking for encouragement than criticism at this stage.)

But, people, people! This is cool. I went around the house to do some tidying before the maids come by this afternoon. The maids who demonstrate my utter incompetence at basic household maintenance, and which we hire to come in every two weeks to mop and scrub and make things cleaner because it sent me into depressive meltdowns when I tried to keep the house clean enough on my own.

Anyway. The cool part is, I went around to tidy things, and...it took...like, five minutes.

That is how clean I'm keeping this house! That clean! It's still very much a Geek House, with piles of craft projects/books/electronics cables everywhere, but that's for a value of "everywhere" that has them all tucked away on shelves (or, okay, hidden in closets, or stacked on desks) so that things can actually be vacuumed and mopped, and we have not crushed any cats or visitors with toppling piles of junk.

I am pleased. It feels like being some sort of adult.
