I have made grand plans for language study this summer, but I haven't really made any progress on my "real" writing. You know. Not my academic writing, or my fanfic, but the serious fiction that I do seriously and earnestly want to get published. Haven't been querying, haven't been finishing projects, haven't been starting new ones, haven't been editing anything... Just. A lot of haven't.
I find the whole process of doing things with writing after it's written so enormously discouraging at times. Like, "makes it hard to write the end of something because then I'll have to do stuff with it and that's terrifying" levels of discouraging. I'd rather like to leave my manuscripts in baskets on the doorsteps of nice editors with a "Please take good care of my novel" note pinned to the front, and then not have to think about it again.
Not really how publishing works, though, is it? Oh well.
